Calendar of State Papers (page 4)-John Edloe's petition that James Minge be appointed his guardian. Refers to his father dying (1668)

From Calendar of State Papers (page 4) - John Edloe's petition that James Minge be appointed his guardian.
"That in the yeare 1668, yo' pet' father dyeing, the Adm' of his estate was comitted to Tabitha, his Widd', yo' pet' mother, who alsoe dyed in the yeare 1670. Not long after, Major Thos. Bowler, by marriage with Tabitha, yo' pet' sister, executrix of our said Mother, became possessed as well of the Lands and tenements, as other the estate of yo' pet, but yo' Hon', in tender care of yo' pet' comitted the tuition of his p'son to Coll. Robert Wynn, with whome he hath ever since lived, and etc. (then follows a long description of the damage inflicted upon his estate, personal and real, by neglect and depredation; which condition of things compels him to beg that Mr. Minge, his kinsman, "be guardian of yo' pet' & etc.") "That yo' hon' wil be pleased to comand that the Sheriff of the County of James Citty, cause to come upon the Lannds and tenements aforesaid within this County, a Jury of lawfull men, amongst whom Carpenters and other Workmen to be Joyned. That they be charged to enquire of such wast as hath been p'mitted or comitted upon the p'mises, & etc."

18. Miles O MINGE 1

Records in Charles City Co., Va. show Miles O. Minge left Charles City Co. on or before 1701 and went to the western borders of North Carolina. At this time, Charles City Co. ran from north of the James River to the western borders of NC. In 1702 Prince George Co. was formed.
In 1968, Mr. Luther Minges, who at the time was in his late 80's and from Hickory, NC said his father was Miles Minges and he thought his grandfather was Miles, also. Luther Minges and family left Hickory NC area and settled in Rocky Mount, NC
