8. Felix Axley Blackburn MINGEE
Felix appears on the 1857 tax list for Knox County, Kentucky, but is married in December of 1857 in Claiborne County, Tennesssee. He and his family are living in Claiborne County in the 1860 census, with his occupation listed as mechanic. Felix served during the Civil War in the 7th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, US. He was captured during the Vicksburg campaign, and spent nearly two years in a Confederate prison camp in Richmond, Virginia. After exchange, Felix served the remainder of the war on garrison duty in Louisiana, where he contracted the bronchial infection that eventually would kill him. His family never received a pension.
