1. Miller MINGA
8-28-2000: Still unable to identify his mother ??? Minga. If she came toUS around time of Miller's birth or soon after, that would have been ca1822. Already in US and the south were Minga families, with JohannesMinga a significant early arrival.
Oral history given by Emma Isobel Minga says Miller's mother came onship from Germany probably shortly before or after his birth. Emma Mingaowned small black wrought iron "Betty" lamp, of type used on a ship. Sheknew her Minga grandmother, and described childhood memories of herhaving a large trunk, wearing the key to it around her waist. She spokeGerman. The children would tease her to open the trunk, but apparentlyshe refused. Emma Minga indicated that the trunk "ended up down inGeorgia (or Alabama?) with another branch of our family. " Emma Minga(Hays) was my paternal grandmother, helped raise me, and told thisinformation directly to me.
At this time of writing, I have done extensive internet searchingwithout any documented results about Miller Minga's parents.

A 8-18-1998 query response from Jody Roller showed most directconnection. Through her, I corresponded with Julie Mullinax ofMississippi. Julie provided the middle name of "Fliming" for MillerMinga, but said it was from family use of that name. Also said she wouldsend me more Minga information, but as of now have not received it. * Miller Minga and family found in 1860 Census Sullivan Co TN,Dist. 7. (Incorrectly spelled Murger!)
*At farm/home next to him is Catherine Murger, age 55 at SollomanRoller's. He is only 20, and I believe this was a temporary home forher. She is probably Miller's mother. See more about her on herpage.
* 1870 Census shows Miller Minga and family, including my grandmaEmma I., age 11/12 yrs. Catherine Minga is living with them.
* Rec'd copy of Hickam Family Bible listing Miller Minga and MaryElizabeth. Slight discrepancy in birthdates of each but otherinformation consistent. (See "Facts")
