Old Halifax County Brunswick Stew

 
 1 large hen and 5 lbs of pork... (if you want to make a lot, add a chuck roast)
Cook these meats until they fall from the bone.. I do this one day and pick the meat off the bone in pieces.. Meat and stock (separated)  waits in the frig until stew can be finished the next day
 
2 qts  of canned tomatoes (more if needed)
2 qts if canned butterbeans (you can use dried ones)
2 lbs potatoes (cook these as you would for mashed potatoes and season them)
3 lbs onions chopped
1 bottle of tomato catsup
1 stick of butter
1 can of tomato soup or paste
2 cans of creamed corn
Dash of hot sauce to your liking (we liked it hot, it is hard to get the right amount)
Cook the ingredients (all except the potatoes and corn) in the meat stock until tender and desired thickness. Wait to put the meats into the rest of the veggies once they have cooked down
Now the last things to add are the mashed potatoes (fold them in to take up the liquid) then add the corn.
We made enough to freeze it is so good.
  
This is NOT soup.. it should be made to be thick and stewy
  
My dad put squirrel and rabbit but I don't like the gamey taste
